Steering System

Steering system is referred to a collection of parts and fixtures enabling the motion and directing a vehicle in the relevant path. In other words, the crucial duty of directing the vehicle and chancing its direction shall be borne by the steering system. It should be noted that the foregoing system has technology variety, of which the most common (rack & pinion) has been briefly introduced in the following. Many of the modern vehicles take benefit from the steering with rack & pinion mechanism, where the steering wheel rotates the said rack and further the pinion motion along the width axis of the vehicle. It should be noted that during 30’s, BMW Company used this technology to make its vehicles, while the American peers of this German company used the foregoing mechanism to direct their vehicles after about half a century later. Meanwhile, along the said technology development trend, the steering auxiliary forces such as HPS, or during the recent years EPS are used to overcome the friction of steering system components as well as friction between the tires and roads which result in facilitating the steering wheel rotating by the driver.
